1to1 preschool is a family operated daycare centre for children ages 2.5 to 6 years old. While still using traditional teaching methods, we also include teaching techniques from Kumono, Montessori and Waldorf teaching philosophies. Our teachings are based on emergent curriculum, therefore considering the current needs and interests of our students. Our daily schedule as follows:
8:00- Admission time
8:30-9:30 –Breakfast club
9:30- 10:00 Circle time
10:00-11:00- Lesson period
11:10- 12:10- Outdoor Play (if the weather permits)
12:30-1:30-Hot Lunch served
1:40-3:00- Nap time (optional, for those older children we have workbooks with practice material for independent studies)
3:15-4:15- Dinner
4:30-5:30-Lesson period
5:30-6:00- Outdoor play if the weather permits
We also encourage our students to participate in our weekly homework program, which is based on individual abilities and needs of each child. At the end of every week on each Friday our students take their homework folder home for the weekend. This practice will not only prepare your child for their academic studies, but also encourage them to take responsibilities for their own studies.
While we divide our year into two semesters; Semester 1 (September through December) and Semester 2 (January through June), summer school starts in July and continues through August. We strongly advise parents to meet with your child’s teacher at the end of each semester to discuss their academic achievements as well as any needs or concerns that needs to be addressed.
